How to make papdi chat at home
You’ll need fermented black lentils (papads), chickpeas ( chat masala), tamarind water, salt, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, finely chopped ginger and finely sliced green chilies. Soak the lentils in water overnight. The next day, heat some oil in a pan. Add mustard and cumin seeds. When they start to pop, add the ginger and green chilies.
When the ginger colors become darker, add tamarind water and salt. Put the lentils and water in a blender or a grinder along with the spices. Grind the ingredients to make a fine paste. Put the lid on and grind for a few minutes until slightly thick. Pour the paste in a bowl. Add the chat masala and mix everything. Serve the chat masala papdi chat with papdi chat chutney and chat masala papdi chat sandwiches.
Tips for making Papdi Chat at home
Chickpeas are legumes and not fruit. So ensure that you use only dried chickpeas for the recipe. To get rid of the bad smell, you can add lemon or lime.
